GRID LEVELS AND ENERGY COMMUNITIES

Austria is a leading pioneer in Europe when it comes to promoting and expanding energy from renewable sources and Renewable Energy Communities.

A Renewable Energy Community is permitted to generate energy from renewable sources, and to consume, store, or sell the self-generated energy. (§79 Renewable Expansion Act – EAG)

Grid operators are obliged to ensure that every eligible person (= electricity customer) who meets the relevant requirements and requests the appropriate use of the (electricity) grid (regulated grid access system) may participate either in a

 

  • Energy Community Austria
  • Renewable Energy Community (EEG) according to §16c ElWOG 2010, or in a
  • Collective Generation Facility (GEA) according to §16a ElWOG 2010.
  • Energy Community AUSTRIA
    (BEG ÖSTERREICH)
